Electoral benchmarks 2023
On the upcoming Sunday, a new parliament will be elected, indirectly determining the composition of the next government.
Rosa Lëtzebuerg asbl, as the national advocacy group of LGBTIQ+ people in Luxembourg, has sent after the occasion of the municipal elections our catalog of demands to all parties running in all the electoral districts for parliamentary elections. This catalog, which was developed over several months by working groups within Rosa Lëtzebuerg, explains in nine chapters the issues that queer individuals still face in their everyday lives. It formulates over 37 core demands, outlining how the incoming government can improve the rights of the LGBTIQ+ community in Luxembourg. Rosa Lëtzebuerg urged parties to include as many of these demands as possible in their respective election programs.
At the start of the election campaign phase and with the publication of various election programs, Rosa Lëtzebuerg sent a questionnaire, known as the “Wahlprüfsteine” (election checklist), to the parties to obtain additional information about their positions on the demands.
After analyzing the various election programs and the returned questionnaires, Rosa Lëtzebuerg has now published the Queer Election Checklists. This matrix provides information about how parties position themselves regarding the demands of the LGBTIQ+ community in Luxembourg.

Electoral benchmarks
After analyzing the various election programs and the returned questionnaires, Rosa Lëtzebuerg has now published the Queer Election benchmarks. This matrix provides information about how parties position themselves regarding the demands of the LGBTIQ+ community in Luxembourg.
It should be noted that neither the LSAP nor the ADR had submitted their responses at the time of evaluation.
This is what the parties answer:
When analyzing the election programs, it quickly becomes apparent that not all parties focus on the needs and concerns of the LGBTIQ+ community. Most of Rosa Lëtzebuerg’s demands are not mentioned in the majority of publications. For this reason, we wanted to know the specific positions of all parties on our demands in detail. Of the 8 parties contacted, only 6 questionnaires were received by the time of evaluation on Friday, September 29th.
Please note: The parties’ answers are in German.
