LGBTIQ+ in Luxembourg

The rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender persons are quite comprehensive in Luxembourg, as in many Western European countries. The decriminalisation of homosexuality in Luxembourg was proclaimed in 1794. In 1992, the age of consent was 16 (Article 372 of the Penal Code). In 2004, same-sex civil partnership was legalised, and on 18 June 2014, the law on same-sex marriage was passed, making the country the eleventh European country to legalise it.
